Stereotype

Introduction
I've been conducting research for the past one week in search of the kind of fashion for both men and women who lived in the 1966 in the United States. But getting the facts has not been easy. After conducting an extensive research, I came across the New York Times Newspaper dated September 21, 1966.Then I took it to the Film machine and started reading it, from the first page of the Newspaper up to the end. I was intrigued by different kinds of fashions of clothes and hand bags that men and women used in the 1960s.I spent so much time reading filmed New york times Newspapers and the Washington Post newspapers in the Library at the University of North Texas.

Fashion
I chose to research on fashion so that I could make a comparison with the contemporary fashion and stereotype views and perceptions. When you look at most of Magazines today, you will see that there are many white people’s images including celebrities, even when it comes to advertisement of fashion, clothes and cars and many other items, you will see that the majority of pictures in a magazine or newspaper are white people. This is sometimes very confusing and unfair to keep on advertising one race only. Why don't these media companies advertise fairly by playing an equal role of advertising all races in the same manner? I guess the main answer is that, race matters.

When I got the newspaper dated 21 September 1966, I made photo copies. I took the newspaper copies to my Mr. Harry Edward in Dallas Texas so that I could hear his perceptions and views concerning the lifestyle, fashion and racism (stereotype) in the 1960's.Mr Edward is 90 years old. He lives in a nursing home. I was lucky to get him, I knew him through my friend: Alex Rhone. I asked him if I could listen to his oral history in regard to my research and findings. Mr. Edward was quick to respond, "Oh yes! you can come and interview me concerning your research.
